FEBRUARY 20, 2024 – Tasked with leading the organization’s strategic efforts, Montgomery will focus on fundraising, strengthening partnerships, and fulfilling HPF’s role as the official friends group to Pullman National Historical Park.

“Growing the Historic Pullman Foundation and developing the national park will mean the world to me.” added Montgomery, who currently resides in the neighboring Rosemoor community.

As Executive Director, Montgomery will work closely with HPF’s Board of Directors, its many committees and the organization’s dedicated volunteers on three main priorities:

  • Serving Pullman National Historical Park and raising critical funds to support its many priorities;
  • Building Historic Pullman’s many local and national partners through communication and collaboration;
  • And continuing the foundation’s solemn role of preserving Pullman’s rich heritage and educating people everywhere about the continuing American story that is Pullman.

“Robert’s strong fundraising background and his many years as a successful executive director made him a perfect choice for us.” said HPF Board President, Maria P. Hibbs. “He’s the right person to lead the organization at this pivotal time.”

Montgomery has spent a career leading charitable organizations, growing their high-level fundraising opportunities and developing smart strategies for the modern-day challenges nonprofits face. From his work at the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service, and most recently as the Executive Director of the Urban Muslim Minority Alliance, Montgomery has shown an uncanny ability to connect with people and communities. He finds ways to get things done.

“This is an important period of growth and development for both the park and our friends group,” offered Pullman National Historical Park Superintendent, Teri Gage. “I’m confident we’ll continue our successful partnership with HPF under Robert’s leadership and look forward to working with him.” Montgomery replaces Julian Jackson, who served as HPF’s Executive Director for the past three years.
