Pullman | Directions
The Pullman Historic
District is located fourteen miles south of downtown Chicago. It is easily
accessible by car, bus or Metra Rail service.

Traveling
to Pullman By Car
Via I-94 (Dan Ryan and Bishop Ford expressways):
- From downtown,
take I-94 East (south).
- After 95th street,
the expressway will split to the Bishop Ford (the signs will read “To
Indiana” and I-57 (“To Memphis”).
- Take the Bishop
Ford towards Indiana, on the left side of the expressway.
- Continue along
the Bishop Ford to the 111th Street exit (#66A).
Via Lake
Shore Drive/Stony Island Avenue alternate:
- From downtown,
take Lake Shore Drive south.
- At 57th Street
(the exit for the Museum of Science and Industry) exit the Drive and
follow the inner drive to connect to Stony Island Avenue.
- Continue south
down Stony Island.
- After 95th Street,
you will continue south and merge around into the Bishop Ford Expressway.
- The next exit
will be 111th street exit (#66A), be sure to merge to the right lane
to exit in time.
- Exit at 111th
street going west – this exit only goes west.
Continuing
From the 111th Street Exit:
- Go west on 111th
Street to Cottage Grove Avenue (the 4th light, before the train viaduct),
turn left (south) down Cottage Grove.
- Continue one block
south to 112th street, turn left into our parking lot.
- The Visitor Center
is located on your left, on the northeast corner of 112th and Cottage
Grove.
Traveling
to Pullman By Bus
Chicago Transit Authority operates city bus route #111-Pullman
that runs along Cottage Grove Avenue and stops at 112th street, right
across from the Visitor Center.
From downtown you
can take the CTA Red Line Trains to connect to the #111 bus line. Visit

Traveling to Pullman By Metra Rail Service
The Pullman district is serviced by the Metra Electric commuter train
lines from the 111th Street-Pullman and 115th Street-Kensington stations.

Note: On Sundays, trains run on a reduced
schedule and only run once every two-hours. Please make
sure you check schedules for Sunday travel.
From the
111th Street-Pullman Station:
This station is closest to the Visitor Center and is a local station stop.
Trains take approximately 30-40 minutes to get to this stop from downtown.
- After arriving
at the station, walk through the station house and down the stairs.
- Walk east (right
turn) to Cottage Grove Avenue (at the light – you will see the
Clock Tower and the Hotel from here).
- Cross to the park
and walk south (right turn) one block through the park to 112th street.
- The Visitor Center
will be located on your left (you will see the mural on the back side
of the building), on the northwest corner of 112th and Cottage Grove.
From the
115th Street–Kensington Station:
This station is about 4 blocks from the Visitor Center and is an express
stop on this line. Express trains take about 20 minutes from downtown
to this stop.
- After arriving
at the station, walk down the stairs and exit the station ( you will
be on Front Street).
- Turn left towards
115th street and then another left to head east on 115th street (under
the viaduct) to Cottage Grove Ave.
- Cross at the light,
turn left (north) and proceed 3 blocks up Cottage Grove to 112th Street.
- The Visitor Center
will be across the street on the northwest corner of 112th Street and
Cottage Grove Avenue.
