The Historic Pullman Foundation will host a celebration in honor of the 181st anniversary of George M. Pullman’s birth. The event will be held at 1:00 PM  on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Pullman Visitor Center, 11141 South Cottage Grove, Chicago.

The event will feature: 

Lectures
William H. Tyre, Executive Director of Chicago’s Glessner House who will speak on “The Pullman’s of Prairie Avenue:”, and

 

 

 

Author Terry Tatum who will speak on “Pullman’s Other Architect – Irving K. Pond”

 

 

There will be opportunity for questions of the authors and discussion  following the talks.

A Pullman trivia contest will be held to see how many items or places share the Pullman name. Attendees are invited to submit entries ( and  show their item if it’s portable). A prize  will be awarded for the most interesting or unusual item.

A silent auction of Pullman memorabilia will be held for the benefit of the Historic Pullman Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit which provides education and resources to promote the preservation and history of the Town of Pullman as a city, state and national landmark district.

The event will close with birthday cake and refreshments to celebrate George M-. Pullman’s 181st birthday anniversary.
